Boris Knyazev's parterre gymnastics

Boris Knyazev's parterre gymnastics focuses on developing ligament elasticity, strengthening the muscles of the lower extremities, improving stability, and enhancing coordination of movements. This method helps develop essential fundamentals, such as correct body alignment (due to the absence of vertical spinal load), extended knees and feet, proper turnout of the legs, and the strength and placement of the arms.

Classes based on Knyazev's system are invaluable for novice dancers to master the foundational techniques of classical dance.

They are also beneficial for experienced dancers, helping to strengthen muscles and correct deficiencies.

Boris Knyazev was a Russian dancer, a renowned ballet teacher, and the creator of a revolutionary exercise method that has had a lasting impact on classical dance, comparable to the legacy of Vaganova's system. Knyazev studied at the St. Petersburg Imperial Ballet School, and after the Russian Revolution, he emigrated to Paris. There, he established his own ballet school and developed his groundbreaking technique, which involved performing classical exercises entirely on the floor, either lying down or seated.
